Early closure of Medical Libraries on Thursday 17th December 2009

Whitechapel and West Smithfield Libraries will close early, at 6pm, on Thursday 17th December 2009. Mile End Library will remain open until midnight as usual.

QMUL Library Services opening, Tuesday 3 February

Owing to the continued adverse weather conditions we will be CLOSING EARLY today, Tuesday 3 February.

- Main Library Mile End.: the Issue counter will close at 5 pm. the Library building will be open until 9 pm offering reference and Self Service facilities.

Hive aka Level One closures next week

The west half of Level One will be unavailable for general use between 8.00 on Monday 8th December and 17.00 on Wed 10th December, whilst it is being used as a venue for photographs being taken for the College's winter degree ceremonies.

Library services on bank holiday (5th May)

The Main Library and Whitechapel Library will be open throughout May Day Bank Holiday, with Counter services available from 9am-5pm.

QMUL users (staff, students, alumni & NHS) and University of London staff and students will be admitted with appropriate ID.

West Smithfield Library will not open on Bank Holiday (but will be open at other scheduled times during the weekend).

West Smithfield opening on Saturday afternoons

From Saturday 3rd May West Smithfield Library reading room will begin opening on Saturday afternoons, 2-7pm during Medical School term time. A basic counter service will be available. Basement group study and computer rooms will be open 24hrs as normal.

From 19th April Whitechapel Library will be open longer hours

New term time opening hours for Whitechapel Medical library are as follows:

Monday–Thursday
8.40am – midnight (Counter service 9am–10pm)
Friday
8.40am – 8pm (Counter service 9am – 8pm)
Saturday
10am – 7pm (Counter service 10am – 5pm)
Sunday
2pm – 9pm (Counter service 2pm – 7pm)

Library opens 24-7 from 3rd March to May 30th

From TODAY Monday 3rd March 2008 the Main Library (at Mile End) will be open 24 hours a day 7 days a week until Friday May 30th 2008, after which standard term-time hours will be resumed. There will be one break to this pattern over the 4 day Easter weekend [Friday March 21st to Monday March 24th], when the Main Library will close at midnight Thursday 20th March and re-open on Tuesday 25th March at 9am.

All users will need to show current and valid QMUL ID to gain access. More details are available from the Library web site.

Having listened to your feedback after the pilot of last year we have extended 24 hour opening to 7 days a week, and will be providing extra cleaning, putting more hours into re-shelving and installing vending machines in the Library foyer.
